Free Printable Valentines: Owls and Robots

Ah, the Valentine exchange.  This is the first year Clark has had to prepare valentines for classmates. I remember being in elementary school, and sorting through my store bought valentines to carefully select the most appropriate valentine for each student.  Heaven forbid I gave anyone any ideas.  I never wanted anything too gushy, because being the timid girl that I was, I didn't want my Valentines to say anything that I wouldn't.

Fortunately, Clark is not at all concerned about that right now, but I couldn't help but try to help him pick out some friendly vs. romantic valentine gifts.  While we were at Target we found this cute little puffy Valentine stickers.  We couldn't resist. Robots and birds are what we brought home.

I made up some simple card stock valentines to attach the stickers to.

Nothing too creative, but like I said, Clark doesn't care too much now.

"Valentine, you make my heart skip a beep", and "I'm nuts about you" seemed neutral enough for any social relationship.

Clark picked out the birds and owls for the girls.  "Valentine, You are a hoot", and "Valentine, I think you're tweet".

We signed them, and used double sided tape to stick the stickers to the back of the card stock. As they would say in pre-school,  easy peasy mac and cheesy.

Need some last minute valentines. You can print off my free printable owl valentines or free printable robot valentines.  For personal use only of course.

Sewing For Baby: Baby Animal Hats

Source: Moth and Sparrow
Moth and Sparrow offers adorable free (for personal use) patterns for knit baby hats.  When I stumbled upon the image on Pinterest they were instantly added to my list of things to make to welcome baby. She offers patterns for A Fox, Raccoon, and an owl.

I couldn't resist turning the little owl pattern into a penguin hat.  I tilted and elongated the beak, and slightly altered the face shape.

The hats are easy to sew up, and don't take much time at all.  I left all of my raw edges unfinished....laziness mostly, but you really don't have to worry about knit fraying much.

If you're expecting a baby, or simply can't resist sewing up cute little things, then I highly recommend trying out this project.  I used scraps from my knit pile, but you could certainly cup up a soft old t-shirt or two to whip these up.

Top-toberfest Day Two: Raglan Shirt with Owl Applique and Freezer Paper Stenciling

Welcome to day two of Top-toberfest. I am getting excited about all of the great tops that have linked up in the show and tell. If you haven't looked at them yet, then be sure to hop on over and sneak a peek before you're through.

Today I'm sharing a raglan sleeve top with an appliqued reverse applique....hmmm, that doesn't quite sound right, but we'll roll with it.

Jess from Craftiness Is Not Optional is hosting a sew along this week for an adorable girl's top, if you weren't blessed with boys.
