Easter (or Eastird as Clark refers to it)

We had a wonderful Easter Sunday.  I hope that you did too.  I wanted to snap a few pictures of the boys in their Easter ties/outfits.  Unfortunately I didn't get it done before church, and Clark covered himself in chocolate spit, while devouring some chocolate he received from his teacher. So chocolate spit is present in the picture, but it is probably a good representation of what Easter is really like.

 I tried to take the pictures on our front step, but cars kept driving by....

 ...and planes kept flying overhead.  It was really hard for these little guys to focus on the camera.

While I'm showing you family pictures....Miles is now six months old.  He's super close to crawling, and moves all around the room, only in reverse.  He's expressing his frustrations more and more.  He can hardly handle when anyone takes something away from him.  He is also becoming more and more active.  I used to type up most of my posts with him on my lap, but now that is impossible.  He loves pushing buttons and grabbing the mouse. He's still a bit of a monster, 98th percentile for weight, and 99th for height.   We sure love both of our boys and feel very blessed to have them in our family.

Reduce Reuse Refashion: Easter Wear

I finished up a few bow ties for my boys.  All three of them have matching aqua gingham bow ties.

 I don't think that my husband is thrilled about this one. "Aqua, the manliest of the blues", he says sarcastically.  He might not be thrilled about them, but I'm sure excited to see my guys in their Easter get ups. The matching ties won't last long.  I'm getting over it.

I attached Miles' bow tie to a onesie, and added a vest and pair of shorts.  You may recognize the vest and shorts as being similar to the well dressed man vest and tie onesie.

The material for the shorts came from a pair of my husbands old thrift store polyester pants.  I love the look of the sandy brown polyester with the aqua gingham, but I did NOT love sewing with it.  It was thick and added quite a bit of bulk to the seams.

I added a few random green buttons.

Let's hope for some nice spring weather on Sunday.  I'd love to show off Miles' chubby thighs in a pair of shorts.

I still have hopes of making an Easter top for myself, but I haven't even decided what to make.  We'll see what happens.

Springtime Appliques with Free Templates

Are you all busy with springtime projects?  The warmer weather has been giving me the itch to bust out my bright fabrics, and sew up some springtime projects.  I still haven't tackled any Easter outfits for the boys, and I've yet to start any spring tops, but I did manage to whip up a few springtime appliques for some simple knit burp cloths.

Meet my friend Mr. Rabbit.  Isn't he sweet?  I think that he'd be absolutely adorable on a dribble bib, or onesie.

I used up little bits of knit that I'd been storing.  I love the little embroidered details on the eyes and carrot.
