I am sure that most of you are familiar with the work of Dana from Made. I have kind of been making my way through her wonderful list of tutorials. She has a great shirt for a 90 minute shirt using a repurposed T-shirt. It looked simple enough so I thought I'd give it a try. I honestly think that it would have taken me around 90 minutes, but my son did not feel like trying on his shirt...so I made an attempt at fitting the shirt on my own. I had to spend about 90 minutes unpicking the neckline. I am confident that if I tried this project again (which I probably will) that I could finish it in a little over 90 minutes.
The white fabric that I used was a single knit that I bought on an inventory sale. It was really inexpensive-which I love. I found the trim at Joann's for 50% off, and the red and tan pieces are from scraps from my yoga pants. I really like the little dino applique.
Since I am not nearly as fancy as Dana at Made, I had to fashion my own tags. I just made some simple star labels for the back of the shirt and shorts. Clark looks pretty cute running around in his new top. Because the white knit was so lightweight (and a bit on the transparent side) I decided that it would make a great set of pajamas. I used some existing shorts to create a pattern for the shorts. I doubled up on the white fabric so that Mr. C's diaper wouldn't show through.
I added some racing stripes down the sides of the legs, and a nice blue trim for the waistband. You can see that I used the triple stretch stitch in contrasting colors on the waistband.
Dana suggests leaving the edges of the ribbing raw if you don't have a serger. I took her advice and love the way that it turned out. I left the edges of the applique unfinished, and the bottom of the shorts unhemmed , but I think that it makes for a cohesive look. All in all they turned out pretty cute (almost as cute as the boy sporting them). I might just have to make some more. What do you think?

THESE ARE CUTE!!! I know that if I tried to make this it would take me three times as long as it took Dana. I love her work, but I haven't attempted to make anything yet. Thanks for sharing these pj's!
these are SO cute! I wish I had patience to try clothes, my son would look cute in something like this too :)
