Little Vintage Appliques

With all of the vintage fun going around blog-land this month, I thought that I'd share a few morsels of vintage goodness with you.

I inherited some of my grandmother's sewing appliques.  I'm not exactly sure what decade all of these appliques come from, but she's been gone now for over twenty years, so they have to be vintage.

I have them stored in a box, just waiting to be put to good use.  I love them.  I love that little frog, the croc, and of course those darling little flowers.

Holding on to them, makes me feel a bit like I'm holding onto a piece of my grandmother. I'm almost scared to use them on a project.  I keep thinking that if I ever have a baby girl, that maybe I'd add some of the appliques to a blessing dress.

Let's be honest, the rabbits are a bit creepy.

But the turtles are sweet.  So, as with my vintage patterns, I'm wondering what I should do with them.  Maybe I should frame them up, specimen art style.  Any suggestions?

In other vintage related news, I picked up a vintage swimsuit pattern at the thrift store a couple of months back, and just found some swimsuit fabric that I love.  So hopefully, if all goes well, I'll have a finished vintage sewing project for you in the coming months.

The crocodile is the "IZOD" logo, isn't it?

The bunny is quite creepy, I agree! I think specimen art would be really cute.

How do bunnies always have that potential creepiness? It's bizarre. I think specimen art is a fantastic idea!
