I hope that everyone is enjoying the holiday season. I have enjoyed spending time with family, eating good food, and doing a bit of relaxing.
I'm eager to show you some of the Christmas projects that I took on this year, but I think that I'll wait for a few days. I have plans of cleaning out closets, refrigerators, and cupboard space. I figure that if I take care of some of the housework now, I'll have more time to craft in the future.
I've also been doing a bit of thinking about this little blog that I try to keep up. I started this blog as an outlet for myself. I love sharing my creations with you, hearing feedback, and finding inspiration in all that you create.
I want this blog to show my point of view when it comes to sewing and crafting, but at the same time I want to give my readers what they want. I've posted a couple of polls on my side bar, and would love it if you'd take the time to share your feelings with me. I'd love to know what type of projects and crafts you are most interested in, and what I can do to make this blog more reader friendly. I can't promise tutorials and patterns for every post, but I'd like to know what I can do to improve.
I am considering making a more rigid schedule for my postings. Some ideas that I have running through my head are: a day dedicated to sewing tips, tricks, and techniques; free pattern Friday (round up of free patterns or projects from blogland); recipe day, or spotlighting favorite online shops or blogs. I'm open to suggestions.
While I have your attentions I'd love to know your feelings on guest bloggers and giveaways. I know that sometimes I feel overwhelmed with advertisements and product placement, and I stop reading a blog all together. So do you like guest blogger posts? Do giveaways draw you in or push you away?
Thanks for reading. Hearing from readers really keeps me going. I love creating, and love sharing my creations with you.
Good luck with your cleaning and organizing. I'm itching to do some organizing too but I'm away for a while.
ReplyDeleteAbout your blog- I think it's lovely! I enjoy seeing what you've been creating. I don't have a little boy to sew for but love the things you make for him. I also bought the toddler coat pattern you used b/c the girl version also looked adorable.
Your new schedule sounds awesome if it doesn't interfere with your life (ie if it's not too much stress/pressure)
I like the occasional guest post and occasional giveaway if it's something you truly like/believe in/want to give to someone. I think it's easy for blogs to get overrun with giveaways and I will skip those posts.
Hope you had a merry Christmas!
I filled them out! Don't think I was much help though -- because I chose them all! I think you have a lovely blog and deserve tons of success with it!!

Your blog should be fun. If you have to do a sewing craft for a certain day or a recipe for this day it will turn into work. Keep it carefree Honey. Don't tie yourself down to a schedule. We don't want to lose your creative talent here in Blogland cause you have burned yourself out with "having" to do such & such. My thoughts on that.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog! I don't ever usually even notice if blogs have a schedule unless it has a clever name for each day, and even then, it doesn't really make a difference to my reading -- I read for great content, regardless of a schedule. :)
ReplyDeleteRegarding guest bloggers/giveaways/ads, I don't mind them, in moderation. The reason that I (and presumably everyone else) subscribe is because I like you and what you do, but it's nice to have guest bloggers and get to know someone new, find a new blog. Same for giveaways -- good in moderation and with limited entries (1-3 is great, in my opinion) instead of umpteen entries for running all over blogland.
I'm a definite fan of the occasional giveaway, and learning about new products out there, and periodic link parties - especially if they are tied to something (a theme, at the end of a sew-along tutorial, during a week of blogging about a particular something, or whatever other reason there is to have a link party). But at the same time I don't really want to see this stuff every day, or even every week from the same blog.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with the above followers - I don't think you need to burn yourself out with crazy deadlines for things, or thinking you HAVE to get this done or that done...I enjoy following your blog because of your creativity first...whatever else you add is just a bonus. That being said...if you *do* decide to have a giveaway sometime soon, I'd like to participate by giving away something. :) I also wouldn't mind being a guest blogger. :-D
I love your blog. Whatever you do, make sure it's fun for YOU. I love giveaways, as long as we don't have to go on a rat race to get several entries. I enjoy the "one comment per person," and that's it giveaway's the best. I also love guest bloggers because it helps me find new blogs to check out! I love what you do because it helps me be more daring with my sewing! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI would be interested in a day for tricks, tips, and techniques! A Triple T Tuesday (or Thursday) =) ..giveaways are good every now and again, but I want to be drawn to a blog (like I already am to yours) for the helpfulness and ideas! I enjoy tutorials but I can only imagine how much time goes into the making of one!! Tutorials are something that I like to come across because YOU enjoyed it...chances are...you'll spread the joy and confidence levels will rise once others realize 'Hey I can do that too' !!
ReplyDeleteI'm in agreement with most of the comments above. Do what's fun for you.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm not crazy about blogs that become overrun with giveaways and guests. I think people come here to see your view on the world, it's that simple.
Tricia, as long as blogging makes you feel the fun, whatever you will do is great :) Don't push yourself too hard into a tight schedule
ReplyDeleteAnd I agreed with comments about giveaways & guest post. Giveaway and guest post are good only when you don't post about them everyweek :)
Happy New Year !!
